Playwrights Horizons cast and creative team for Lucas Hnath's The Thin Place, directed by Les Waters. From Broadway World:
Since his The Christians made its New York premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2015, Hnath has received acclaim for two major Broadway productions (A Doll's House, Part 2 and Hillary and Clinton). He now returns to Playwrights with his most arrestingly intimate work to date. In the burgeoning friendship between two women-one who's recently experienced a strange loss, and another who communicates with the dead-Hnath crafts an unnerving testament to the power of the mind, and one mind's power to influence others. The Thin Place makes its New York premiere at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St), running November 22, 2019, through January 5, 2020.
The production features Randy Danson (Playwrights: Arts and Leisure; Broadway: Wicked, Wonderful Town; Other Off-Broadway: Venus, Love and Information) as Linda, Kelly McAndrew (Playwrights: Men on Boats; Broadway: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Other Off-Broadway: Novenas for a Lost Hospital) as Sylvia, Emily Cass McDonnell (Off-Broadway: The Antipodes, Mercury Fur, Grasses of a Thousand Colors; Film: Ben Is Back, A Master Builder) as Hilda, and Triney Sandoval (Broadway: Marvin's Room, Macbeth, A Free Man of Color, A Man for All Seasons, Frost/Nixon) as Jerry. Novenas for a Lost Hospital is a communal experience to remember, honor, re-imagine and celebrate St Vincent’s Hospital. Inspired by the caretakers and patients of St. Vincent's Hospital, and guided by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, this unique event takes a 60-person audience on a journey from an enclosed garden to Rattlestick’s intimate West Village theater to the NYC AIDS Memorial Park. St. Vincent's: Novena's for a Lost Hospital at Rattlestick Theater
Kelly is performing in the workshop of St. Vincent's: Novena's for a Lost Hospital through Sunday at Rattlestick Theater! Written by Cusi Cram and directed by Daniela Topol. The project has a wonderful write-up in the New York Times called "Ghosts of a Hospital Rise in the Village."
“Here the dead and the living have equal claim to the stage, each other, the audience. They speak and argue across centuries. A 19th-century Haitian revolutionary and hairdresser leans over the shoulder of a 20th-century Irish nurse. One doctor faced with a cholera epidemic in the 1840s trades shoptalk with another who is treating AIDs patients in the 1980s.”

These two lovely ladies have shared both the stage and backstage together. Kelly McAndrew was performing as Karen in a production of August: Osage County at the Old Globe where Erin Gioia Albrecht was the Assistant Stage Manager. Their friendship blossomed into a beautiful romance that lasted a few years before they would end up working together again. Their first show together as a couple was the 2015 production of Abundance at TACT. Soon after, the two were both a part of the Playwrights Horizons/Clubbed Thumb production of Men on Boats. At the end of 2016, the couple tied the knot!

Men on Boats is returning this July!
MEN ON BOATS, the critically-acclaimed comedy which premiered at Clubbed Thumb's 2015 Summerworks Festival, will return this summer in a co-production by Playwrights Horizons and Clubbed Thumb. Written by Jaclyn Backhaus and directed by Will Davis, MEN ON BOATS will move uptown to Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) for a four-week limited engagement Tuesday, July 19 - through Sunday, August 14. Opening night is set for Monday, August 1.
In its 2015 premiere at Clubbed Thumb's Summerworks, Ben Brantley named MEN ON BOATS a New York Times "Critics' Pick," writing: "You will surely want to spend time with the hearty title characters of MEN ON BOATS. Backhaus's lively script is brought to infectiously vivid life under Will Davis's highly ingenious direction. Rendered in a carefully exaggerated style that both teases and cozies up to the clichés of the archetypal hero adventurer, the cast, director and design team delightfully recreate the rhythms, rush and terror of life on the water."
The cast of MEN ON BOATS features Hannah Cabell, Danielle Davenport, Danaya Esperanza, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Birgit Huppuch, Layla Khoshnoudi, Kelly McAndrew, and Kristen Sieh.
The production features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Solomon Weisbard and sound design by Jane Shaw. The Production Stage Manager is Erin Gioia Albrecht.
